At some point in our lives, we will find ourselves in a situation when we are strapped for cash. It might be due to an emergency, home repairs or an unexpected car expense. Unfortunately, we all do not have access to savings or an emergency pot. So how do you make money fast? Here are some smart ways to raise cash quickly without causing irreparable harm to your finances.

Sell unwanted items
We all have excess items that are no longer serving us and giving us value. It makes the most sense to get rid of these items, especially if we can get financial compensation for these items. It is easier than ever to sell pre-loved items online. The best places to sell your items on Facebook Market Palace, Ebay and Vinted.

Selling old household items and clothing you’re not using anyway is a great way to clear out your storage areas and make some cash at the same time!

Online surveys
If you are looking for free ways to earn some extra cash online for free in the UK, then paid surveys is one of the easiest methods. There are plenty of great UK survey sites, and it can not only be a great way to earn some extra cash but also a great way to have your opinion heard.

Some of the most popular survey sites include i-say, Swagbucks and Prolific. Payment methods are normally by cash via PayPal, Amazon vouchers and more.

Mobile Phone Recycling
You can earn money and help the environment by recycling your old mobile phones and other unused devices. Top selling sites include GiffGaff Recycle, Muzuma and musicMagpie.

Meal plan
If you're trying to save money, the first thing financial experts will tell you to do is stop eating out and start cooking your own meals. I am a strong believer in feeding my family nutritious and well-balanced meals. However, I also like to do this when shopping within a budget!

Make the effort to stick to a meal plan for a few weeks and you will be surprised at how much money you can save

Borrow
Choosing one of the payday loan alternatives such as Polar Credit who offer a credit line that allows you to borrow only the money you need, when you need, with flexible repayment options. The information provided on the Polar Credit website is easy to understand – so there are no nasty surprises when it comes to what you’re borrowing and how much you’ll need to pay back, which is super important when making any borrowing decision.

And most importantly, if you find you are struggling often financially, please contact Step Change. Step Change are a debt charity which gives free debt advice & debt management. Step Change are fantastic, they will deal with contacting your lenders, so you don't have to, they are happy to give you advice when you need it.

If you do need to borrow money, there is nothing to be ashamed of - just make sure that you do your research and borrow in the right way, from the right company for you.

We were recently asked to try and review some meat and poultry of my choice from Swaledale online butchers. We are big foodies in this household, so of course we jumped at the chance!

So who are Swaledale Butchers?
Swaledale online butcher are a traditional butchers based in Skipton; Yorkshire Dales committed to producing high-quality meat. A whole-carcass company that breeds traditional livestock, concentrating on exceptional meat rather than quantity.

Ordering meat and poultry online is a hassle-free way of shopping for food, they're also great for trying new types of meats and cooking techniques. Plus, there's considerably less food wastage.

The ordering process
We found it super easy to order. There is so much choice, the meat is separated into the different animals where you will see exactly how much of the animal is used. There are also sections for specials, seasonal products and Meat Boxes.

What we ordered
We chose the Essential Meat Box to be able to try as many varieties of meat on offer as possible. The Essential Meat Box retails at £60.00 and contains.

  • 1 x 800g Topside Beef Joint
  • 1 x 480g pack Lamb Merguez Sausages
  • 1 x 480g pack Yorkshire Breakfast Sausages
  • 2 x 220g Bavette Steaks
  • 2 x 200g Pork Rump Steaks
  • 1 x 500g pack Diced Beef
  • 1 x 500g pack Minced Beef
  • 1 x 540g pack Chicken Drumsticks
  • 1 x 250g pack Dry-Cured Back Bacon
  • 1 x 250g pack Dry-Cured Smoked Streaky Bacon

The delivery
Orders are prepared and shipped the next working day via DPD and were given a 1-hour time slot on the day of delivery. Everything was very well-packed in a double-walled cardboard box, all the packaging is 100% recyclable and developed for shipping meats and temperature-sensitive goods.

They also offer free delivery for orders over £60 and a loyalty scheme where you earn 5 points for every £1 spent which you can redeem at the checkout.

Quality of meat
We were super empress with the quality of the meat. Swaledale pride themselves with their meat which is always fresh and never frozen. Being a sustainable company, they have built amazing with selected farms and local abattoirs, meaning all their local products are traceable and animals have a high level of warfare.

All the meats were all sealed and labelled correctly, the quality is spot on. We could really taste the difference from our normal supermarket brought meat.

Verdict
To date we have not eaten all of our order as there is only two of us, we cannot wait to have the Topside Beef Joint for our Sunday Roast using our Air fryer. The box is great value for restaurant quality free-range meat and poultry.

*Thank you to Swaledale for the opportunity to taste and review their delicious products. This is not a paid post, although we were sent a rather generous selection of quality meat to review.

The thought of moving house, transferring items to storage or changing offices is not appealing to many. In case you have ever been involved in a move before, you are well aware of all the countless things required to complete a move.

Finding the right company to contract for your move is not easy. There are many things to think about, how much do removals companies cost if I use only a man and a van company? will they unpack my boxes when they get to my new home?

Today we are sharing some tips on how to choose the right removal company;

Reviews and Recommendations
A good place to start looking for a removal firm you can trust is to people you know. This can be friends, family or your property move team such as your estate agent or conveyancer. When you get in touch with a removal company always ask if they have online testimonials or positive reviews that they can direct you to. Keep in mind that no company will expect 100% positive reviews, because you can never please everyone. Instead, read up on reviews and get a general feel for how they perform and how happy their previous customer base has been.

Do your Research
Does the company have insurance to cover any breakage that can occur during the moving process? One of the most common mistakes made by people is choosing a company which does not provide removal service in their area. Local companies can be more helpful and friendly, while national companies might have more professional credentials.  Speak to the company about any concerns you have and don't be afraid to ask them questions. After all, your goods need to be in safe hands and you need to feel confident that the company you have chosen to work with are the right people for the job.

Check The Rates And Compare
Company rates is the main thing consideration when it comes to choosing a service. But since there are various other companies offering the same service you require comparing the quotes to get right service at a competitive price rate. The cheapest company may not be the most reliable one. You can try and negotiate the price or see if you can get some extras included. Remember that you need to compare what they offer as well as price, because sometimes very cheap services will mean that you need to pay out for extras, which you have have been able to avoid if you went for a more comprehensive service with someone else.

Packing Services
It is important to find out what packing services the company offers. Inquire about what packing materials they use and ask how they would pack and protect your valuables. Speak to them if you have any specific items that you are worried about in terms of being looked after and make sure that they know to pay extra attention to the more delicate pieces.

Have you moved house before? How did you pick the removal company that you chose?

Daisy London is a British jewellery brand known for their statement pieces with meaning. Launched in 2009, they are a brand for women, by women. Daisy London have collaborated with the adorable Estée Lalonde on several jewellery collections, all containing beautiful jewellery items crafted in 100% recycled sterling silver and 18ct gold plate. All their jewellery comes with a 6 month warranty.

Recently the team at Daisy London got in touch and asked if we would like to review some of their new pieces, of course we said yes!

Let’s Look at The Jewellery

First of are these sleek 18ct-gold-plate Estée Lalonde Bold Dome Huggie earrings. These are perfect worn in alone or layered with other earrings. We love that they have a little weight to them and are highly polished. The only thing we have noticed is that it has been easier to put the earrings on because the metal has gotten used to opening and closing the clamp. When first received they were a little stiffer!

These Estée Lalonde Sunburst Midi Hoop Earrings are the perfect mix between dainty huggies and large statement hoop earrings They come in two options, sterling silver and 18ct gold, an absolute must in any jewellery collection.

Buying For Someone Else?
Both these pieces would make beautiful jewellery gifts, and the price is very reasonable. Daisy London offer free gift packing which includes a velvet bag and its own presentation box as well as next day delivery.

Shopping For Yourself
One of the things I love about Daisy London is that they have just a wide range of pieces available, which means that whatever your style preference is or whatever mood you're in there will be pieces to suit you. We all have those days where we want to wear something bold and others where we want something more understated - Daisy London have pieces that will suit pretty much everyone.

We are now such a fan of their classic gold jewellery and it literally inspired us to start our gold jewellery collection! If you have a browse of their pieces make sure you come back and let us know what your favourite pieces are.

Schools teach a multitude of subjects, including performing arts. Children have the option to take on drama lessons and consider a career in theatre. Aside from that, there are many benefits to studying drama. It can help children with their confidence as they will need to tackle their nerves and perform in front of others. Other subjects don’t necessarily allow children to exercise their presentation skills, despite many of the job roles that they lead to requiring them (for example, business). If you’re intrigued to learn more about the benefits of drama lessons for children, keep reading as we have some that were shared with us by a group of teachers in Guildford.

Group Work
We don’t always get the first pick of who we want to work with. For a production to work, children need to all work together. This requires team working skills and co-operation. Despite whether they want to pursue an acting career, your child will need these skills in the workplace when they are older and everyday within social settings.

Strengthening Memory
For a performance, rehearsals are needed and lines must be memorised as failing to do so doesn’t look very professional. This can help children to strengthen their memory as it exercises and grows the part of the brain responsible for that.

Emotional Intelligence
For acting to be believable, children must do a good job at imitating and portraying different emotions. They must develop their emotional intelligence and know what each emotion looks like. This practice and understanding can help them in real life as they will encounter social situations where they will need to be able to read body language.

The way that we process and absorb information varies. Some prefer verbal instructions whilst others like having the opportunity to get stuck in and implement what they’ve learned. This is what is known as our “learning style” and it differs from person to person. Your child will have their own and working this out can help them to get the most out of their education and succeed. While there are several different forms of learning styles, the 3 that are the most commonly referred to and known about are “visual”, “kinaesthetic” and “auditory”. We’ve teamed up with a group of teachers to share some points on each and tips on how you can use this information to your advantage.

Kinaesthetic Learners
If your child’s a kinaesthetic learner, they will like having a go at things themselves. They tend to enjoy subjects like science and technology as they can experiment and apply themselves. You can engage a kinaesthetic learner with educational games and activities that allow them to discover new things like field trips.

Visual Learners
These are people that are able to remember from what they recall seeing, almost photographically. These children can improve their learning with tools such as highlighters and crayons that make it easier for them to read and differentiate between their notes. It may also be worthwhile asking their teacher for a spot at the front of their class as it can make sure that they can see what’s on the board.

Auditory Learners
Individuals that remember through sound are known as auditory learners. They appreciate having instructions repeated, the tone of voice in which they are said and clarity. This is why it’s important that they are also sat at the front as it ensures that they can hear clearly.

Children can be difficult to engage, especially now as there are so many distractions around us. This can make homework quite the challenge but nonetheless, it needs to be done. It is a pivotal part of school as their teachers will need your help to make sure that what they are taught in class is practised and familiarised. If you’re a parent that faces similar struggles, we have just the tips for you from a co-ed senior school in London.

Make Their Studies Relevant to Them
I think many of us will agree that much of what we were taught had no practical use in the real world and the things that we would have liked to be taught weren’t. Unfortunately, it all must be covered by the curriculum and while boring, there are ways in which you can make it appealing to your child. You can think of scenarios where the concepts that they are taught would apply and involve their passions/interests.

Interactive Games
Children love their games so why not look for fun, interactive educational games for them to play? They are certainly more appealing than worksheets and have the potential to get them hooked. All of the practice will help them to improve on their ability and excel at school.

Ask Their Teacher
Teachers have a rare talent as many of us will have discovered from having to teach our children. They are skilled and trained at engaging young children and breaking concepts down into digestible chunks. If you’re struggling to help your child with their work, it may be work speaking to them. They may be able to offer tips and put you in the direction of some helpful parent resources

Amidst another rise in energy prices, many households are looking for ways to cut down on their electricity and gas consumption. Making your home more environmentally friendly can help in addition to preserving and protecting the planet. Below we’ve included some ideas that were shared with us by a construction training firm.

Insulation
We’re all familiar with insulation and if not, it’s what offers buildings protection against heat loss. While you’re spending hefty amounts on heating your home, approximately 35-45% escapes which in winter is a serious concern. Homes as old as those from the Second World War can be made more efficient and reduce heat loss by up to 92% through good insulation. When looking to improve yours, don’t forget about the floor. While much will escape through the roof and walls, 10% is lost through the floor which is often not known about.

Triple Glazing
Many of us have double glazed windows. Triple glazed windows offer further protection and reduce heat loss. However, it is worth noting that this can make it more difficult for heat to enter your building. If you want to be warm and toasty, you will need to use your heaters.

Making Sure That Everything is Airtight
Seals wear away and windows and frames chip over time. This can make your home more prone to heat loss and reduce your energy efficiency which is why they should be checked regularly.

Solar Panels
With energy costs in mind, why not collect your own to keep your bills down? If you can afford to pay the initial outlay, having solar panels can help you to save up to £729 on your bills a year. Also, if you are lucky enough to gather more energy than you consume, this can be sold to the national grid, making you an extra income.
